Second Sunday Poetry 10/9

Princeton Makes and Ragged Sky Press Second Sunday Poetry Reading – Sunday, October 9, 2022

Princeton Makes, a Princeton-based artist cooperative, and Ragged Sky Press, a local publisher focused on poetry, will host a Second Sunday Poetry Reading on Sunday, October 9 at 4:00 pm. The readings will take place at the Princeton Makes store in the Princeton Shopping Center.

The October reading will feature Emily Nguyen and Harvey Steinberg. Their readings will be followed by an open mic available to up to 10 audience members who would like to read their original poetry. Harvey Steinberg has been National Vice-President of an AFL-CIO industrial union; Deputy Director of an
urban revitalization program and Executive Director of its Economic Development arm; an Assembly
District Leader in New York City; and an environmental advocate in New Jersey. He was co-founder of a large arts organization in central New Jersey. He has taught writing and literature and holds a B.A. from CUNY, and a J.D. from Brooklyn Law School. He lives in Lawrenceville, New Jersey. Emily Saunders Nguyen’s poems appear in her book, Dream’s Hold (2018) and in Archae, GSU Review, ARS Interpres and other journals. She won a Pushcart nomination, holds MAs in Japanese and Comparative Literature, and taught at Vanier College, Montreal. She worked at the East Asian Library, Princeton University, translates from Classical Japanese, and has been a longtime member of US1 Poets
Cooperative and the Long Poems Gathering.

Princeton Makes is a cooperative comprised of 34 local artists who work across a range of artistic genres, including painting, drawing, stained glass, sculpture, textiles, and jewelry. Customers will be able to support local artists by shopping for a wide variety of art, including large paintings, prints, custom-made greeting cards, stained glass lamps and window hangings, jewelry in a variety of designs and
patterns, and more.

Ragged Sky is a small, highly selective cooperative press. We work with our authors closely. Authors retain copyright and we use our experience and professional resources to support the author’s work through the editing, production, and design process. Ragged Sky Press has historically focused on
mature voices, overlooked poets, and women's perspectives.
